hey guys,

i have been learning the hiragana now, and its going pretty good. however whenever i look at katakana i get so confused. anyone got any tips for how to tackle katakana. cause everytime i see it i keep thinking of hiragana. haha

is there such thing as a katakana picture book?

The biggest problem with Katakana is you don't see it as much. Which means you forget them easily. YOU just need to keep at it when learning any kana or kanji. i always use the 10 a day rule. Grab or make 10 flash cards and just go through them each day everyday like brushing your teeth. If you don't you will forget them. Once you know enough you can exchange flash cards for reading. But reading doesn't work as much because you end up spending so much time looking up words or kanjis in the dictionary. So finally just mix it up start with your 10 flash cards then switch to reading then back to flash cards.

good luck I make a hiragana and katakana flash card program for the website give me a week for that. Cheers

I agree with sparky the best way is just repetition but just make sure you write them as much as you read them and establish the difference between the similar ones thats important as well
