Re: Radio Japan 5 Years, 1 Month ago Karma: 0
Okay, so I've been working in radio for some time, and now I work in the biggest market in the US...so I've been a little curious about radio in Japan. I get a little restless, even when successful, so I'm always looking for a challenge...and I've always been intrigued with Japan...

From what I've heard, there doesn't seem to be a lot of radio in the country, due to signal problems... Is that accurate? Are there any English-speaking stations in Japan that play pop music?

Brent

Hi Brent welcome to the forum. Basically you are right there are a lot of signal problems. But there are still quite a few radio stations, nothing like America or Canada though. The larger cities offer a few bilingual programs. Also there is the American Forces Radio. I live in rural Japan and do not listen to radio at all, mainly because of the signal problems it's just too annoying :

Probably more popular. I mean the entire cell phone industry starts in Japan. My Cell phone has more features then my own computer.

Camera
Video Camera
Voice and video conferencing
T.V.
Radio.
Compass
Dictionary
Calculator
Address Book
Internet
Online Gaming
GPS
Image editing
One touch purchasing. I touch it to a vending machine or pad at the convince store and it pays for my purchase.
Phone to Phone visual file transfer. Done through infrared. Like your remote control at home.
Some have walkie talkie abilities.
And they come in a huge amount of designs

When you get your phone. If you get one that is 2 years or more older they are free. Last years models are around $100 and the new ones from $200-$400.

My phone bill is around $60 a month if you are a little more if you like to play internet games a lot on it. That covers all my talk time + emails+ p2p messaging. Not that bad actually.
