I have a question about kanji. Are they becoming less popular? Are more Japanese people opting for hiragana?

If anything Japan is moving towards using more Katakana. I really dislike this and I feel the Japanese media is to blame.
They are using more and more foreign words in everyday speech. It is horrible to hear if the word comes from your own language. I am sure the Japanese linguistic teachers are rocking back and forth in a dark corner when they return home from school.

Hiragana is a supplement to kanji. I don't feel it is replacing kanji at all. But the newer generations are more relaxed about learning kanji and few are being omitted.
